Specific information regarding the application process can be found on the Graduate Admissions site. Generally, you will need transcripts from all colleges/universities you have attended, three letters of reference, a statement of purpose and GRE test results. International students (where English is not the native language) are also required to provide English language proficiency test results.

Your application must be submitted by August 15 to enroll in the fall semester. For the spring semester, your application must be submitted by January 1. For more information, please visit the Graduate Admissions Application Deadlines page. There are also priority application deadlines of March 1 (for fall) and October 1 (for spring). Applications submitted by the deadline will be given priority consideration for admission, course enrollment, and financial assistance.

A GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for admissions. If you have worked toward or earned a graduate level degree or certificate, those grades will also be considered.

There is not a minimum required score for the GRE. Students admitted into the program typically score near 145 on the verbal portion, 155 on the quantitative portion and 2.5 on the written portion.

Applications cannot be reviewed for admission until they are complete (all required information provided) and submitted. Review of applications generally begins in late September for spring semester and late January for fall semester. Beyond these dates, applications are reviewed when received.

Students generally complete the required 30 credit hours in 3 or 4 academic semesters.

A limited number of Research Assistantships are available. Students are selected by the faculty responsible for the research and selection is based on demonstrated performance. Information on other options can be found on Sources for Graduate Funding.

A wide range of opportunities exist for graduates and allow them to tailor their interests with their career path. A number of regional and national level companies providing construction, engineering, property development, and facility management services recruit students from UNC Charlotte. The annual Construction Internship and Career fair held each year is a great opportunity to meet potential employers and learn about the opportunities.
